FAQ

WAS SIND SOFT-AIR WAFFEN

Soft Air or Air Soft are model weapons with air pressure or gas pressure. The models are in the scale 1:1 recreated of the original weapons.
They often have approximately the same weight as their role models, but are mostly made of ABS with metal parts (see weight). But lately also full metal variants from China have reached the marked, but the quality/performance is not always comparable with models from Japan.

Soft Air guns basically shoot 6mm and with a few exceptions 8mm round plastic bullets (BB) with a different weight from 0.10g up to 0.43g. The optimal marksmanship depends on the weight of the BB and of course on the model. But there are also other 6mm BB types like:

  • paintballs (leave a water-soluble paint stain)
Attention! If a paint ball bursts in the weapon, it must be cleaned, otherwise damage may occur. To be used at your own risk.
  • Banging BB (bang on impact on hard ground) or
  • Tracer balls (Fluorescent BB illuminated by the influence of light)

There are currently 4 variants of how the models come to their pressure:

  1. MANUAL - By repeating the sled on the pistol or the cocking lever on rifles, air is compressed in a chamber. Upon actuation of the trigger, the air and thus the ammunition is pressed through the barrel and the BB receives its speed. This process must be repeated for each shot (single shot). The optimal marksmanship depends on the model (varies greatly) and the BB and is between about 6 and 12 meters. For "HOP-UP" models it is between about 8 and 15 meters (pistols) and about 7 and 35 meters for MPs and rifles /snipers.

What is "HOP-UP"? Hop-Up is a system that gives the BB a subrotation or spin as soon as the BB passes the start of the barrel, and the spin gives the BB a better flow and therefore it flies further and more accurate. The optimum weight of the BB has to be observed! see FAQ point 6.

What is "SLIDE STOP"? Slide stop means that the slide remains at the back when the magazine is empty and returns to its original position after pressing the slide stop lever.

  2. ELECTRIC (AEG) - The same as Manual, but the chamber that is filled with air is drawn up by a motor. The engine gets its power from a special 8.4V or 9.6V battery pack, which is inserted into the weapon and thus not visible from the outside. Electro- powered models are almost always machine guns or submachine guns (MP), but there are also pistols with battery operation. The advantage; They are very reliable and the models shoot semi and often fully automatic. Some even use "BURST CONTROL" (previously adjustable firing order) Electric models almost always have a variable hop-up system built in and the accuracy is between 15 and 30 meters, with up to 14 shots/sec in full auto position. Exception! There are already mini MP's and pistols operating with 4 pcs. (Alkaline only)  batteries - but these are not so strong (about 4 to 7 meters) as the battery pack powered models and the version is also much simpler. The system for the pistols where the slide is movable and automatically repeats at each firing,  is called "BLOW BACK".

  3. FLONGAS - model weapon with gas pressure (Green gas) - similar to a classic CO² weapon. The model is loaded by filling the Green gas into the grip or into the magazine. With few exceptions (fully automatic), these models are semi-automatic and have a rigid slide.
There are also more detailed pistols where the slide is movable and automatically reruns with each firing. This system is called "BLOW BACK."
The accuracy of these models is between 12 and 20 meters.

  4. CO² - model weapon with gas pressure (CO²) - like a classic CO² weapon. The model is loaded by inserting the CO² capsule into the grip or in the magazine. With few exceptions (fully automatic), the models are semi-automatic and have a rigid slide. There are also more detailed pistols where the slide is movable and automatically reruns with each firing. This system is called "BLOW BACK." The accuracy of these models is between 12 and 20 meters.

IMPORTANT! Regularly use silicone oil (approximately every 300 shots) to keep the seals smooth. Also make sure to fill the Green gas from above into the magazine and not vice versa!

Generally speaking, models with longer barrel are more accurate. The average speed of a BB
is between 70m/s (meters per second) and 140m/s, depending on model and BB.

FAQ

ALL OUR PRODUCTS (except items marked with "Sold out" or "Available from") ARE IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE AND NOT AS WITH MANY OTHER ONLINESHOPS - ONLY AFTER WEEKS AVAILABLE!

  1. P. Parking?

In the side streets around our business premises or in the UNIQA Tower Garage:
    www.apcoa.at/parken/wien/uniqa-tower-wien-apcoa/

  2. 1. DO YOU HAVE A CATALOG?

Unfortunately, we no longer have printed catalogs, everything is just online here. As we are constantly receiving new products we would not be able to keep this printed catalog up to date.

  3. 2. HOW OLD MUST I BE?

In Austria Airsoft guns are generally free to buy above 18 years! There were manual pistols, electric pistols and AEG's with an average lower energy than 0.08 Joule, which were available from 14 years, but as the Youth Protection Act changed in Austria in this matter, those models are only available for purchase above the age of 18 years.

  4. 3. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE SUPPLY OF AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC RIFLES (AEG)?

With quality AEGs (Marui, CA, ICS, G&G) a standard magazine, description, catalog, loading stick and 200 pcs 0,25g BB are usually included (may differ from the manufacturer). Battery and charger are extra to order ("Accessories/Battery" page), as many customers already have battery and charger. But there are also exceptions where the battery and charger are included - this is then explicitly noted in the details of the AEG.

  5. 4. HOW MUCH SHOOTS CAN I SHOOT WITH A BATTERY CHARGE?

With one battery charge you can shoot about 900 - 1500 shots, with a stronger battery   (above 2400mah) over 2000 shots. However, this depends on the battery type and whether it is a NiCd, NiMh or LIPO battery.
With the "MINI" electric rifles you can shoot about 400 rounds and with the electro pistols about 350 rounds (but with both types it depends on the quality of the batteries)

  6. 5. HOW STRONG ARE THE "MINI" ELECTRIC RIFLES AND ELECTRO PISTOLS?

These rifles and pistols are weaker than normal versions.
The accuracy lies between 4 and 9 meters and mostly uses 4pcs. "AAA" or "AA" ALKALINE batteries. Some of them also battery packs.

  7. 6. WHICH AIRSOFT AMMUNITION SHOULD I USE?

    - For the AEGs we recommend 0.23g, 0.25g, 0.28g, 0.3g and 0.43g ammunition, but not necessarily paintballs.
    - For manual rifles and MP's we recommend 0.2g, 0.22g, 0.23g and 0.25g ammunition.
    - For the gas pistols we recommend 0,22g, 0,23g, 0,25g, 0,28g, 0,3g and 0,43g ammunition.
    - For manual pistols with hop-up we recommend 0.2g, 0.22g and 0.25g ammunition.
    - For manual guns without hop-up, we recommend 0.12g, 0.2g ammunition.
    - For "mini" electric rifles and electric pistols we recommend 0.12g of ammunition, but not necessarily paintballs.

CAUTION!! Never use damaged, dirty or cheap BB that are not totally round! These can damage your model and we are not able to give a warranty for it.

  8. 7. WHAT DO I NEED SILICONE OIL FOR?

Silicone oil is very important for all gas driven models, as the gas will damage the rubber seals inside the magazine and inside the gun. This will make rubber seals brittle    and thus make the gun leak. It is recommended to lubricate the models with a little silicone oil every 200-300 shots (the magazine and the piston in the back of the slide).  Also with other weapon types you should use a little silicone oil regularly, but not too often. If you are not sure, give us a call.

  9. 8. WHAT MATERIALS ARE THE MODELS?

Basically, most models are made of a very durable plastic/ABS with a combination of metal parts such as inner barrel and inner workings. With the electric rifles(AEG) usually also the outer barrel and a possible shoulder support is made of metal. But lately many AEG´s are delivered with full metal body. With Green gas models usually the magazine is made of metal (mainly in the blowback models). Also here there are a lot of full metal pistols and revolvers on the marked now. With manual(spring) models lead weights are almost always built in to meet the original weight. The heavier the model is (see weight chart), the more metal parts are included. However, there are also full metal variants from China on the marked, but often the quality/performance is not comparable with models from Japan or Taiwan.

  10. 9. DO YOU DELIVER TO ABROAD?

Yes, we also deliver abroad. For details, see the "SHIPPING" page.

  11. 10. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE THE PARCEL?

We basically deliver by post. Special requests as DHL, UPS etc., only on request(unfortunately it´s very expensive).
    - In AUSTRIA approx. 1 - 2 days after receipt of order/payment.
    - Within the EU approx. about 3 - 4 days after receipt of payment.
    - Outside the EU approx. about 4 - 7 days after receipt of payment.

  12. 11. IS MY INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY CONTROLLED BY THE CUSTOM AND MUST I PAY CUSTOM FEES?

There has not been any customs clearance within the EU for a long time, but outside the EU. For our Swiss customers, this is just a matter of form and therefore not a big issue. However, the buyer is fully responsible for any customs issues and we will take no responsibility for that!

  13. 12. WHAT ABOUT THE LEGAL POSITION?

In Austria, all airsoft weapons from 18 years are freely available. Unfortunately, the laws are different abroad, please inquire with your responsible authority. See our terms and conditions page for information about some countries!
Delivery is no problem, but the responsibility for legal matters and laws has the buyer.

  14. 13. HOW LONG DO I HAVE GUARANTEE?

You have 24 months warranty on our products. If you ever have a problem with your Weapon/product we are always there to help you.

  15. 14. WHY DO THE PRICES ON THE INTERNET VARY SO MUCH?

Actually, the prices are pretty much the same, but many of the suppliers are located in Asia or the USA and prices are in US$. Most customers only see the price on the screen, but not the freight charges (very high), the customs/duty charges and of course the VAT (in Austria 20%) which also comes on top of the product price(see example below).

But most importantly, they rarely have a guarantee and if so, then the postage charges are so high that a return does not pay off. Unfortunately, many online shops have little or no goods in stock and only order the goods after the customer has made his order. This often results in long waiting times for the customer until he has received the desired goods.
All items offered by us (except items marked with "Sold out" or "Available from") are on stock and promptly available. For our foreign customers it should also be noted, that if they order from a non-EU country the goods will pass customs and depending on the country (legislation), the goods could be confiscated.

    Example:
    $100,- (goods) + $65,- (freight -usually more) x 4.5% (duty) + 20% (VAT) = $206.91
x €0.92 (current rate January 2024 )= € 190.36. In addition, there are transfer fees of about
€29,- on top. So $100,- worth of goods is corresponding to about €219- with us!
